Santiago Rodríguez, president of #CITPuertodelaCruz and its Board of Directors decide to work already in a new scenario after the COVID-19.
Our organization considers that it is time to make a greater effort in creativity so that Puerto de la Cruz continues to offer events of interest and adapted to the new context.
A few weeks ago, the Board of Directors met to discuss, among other things, the implementation of the activities planned for the second half of 2020.
We want to continue betting on the dynamization of the city with differentiating projects, but we are aware that for this it is necessary to make a continuous evaluation of the advances in the management of the sanitary emergency and, consequently, we will evaluate the need to reorient events like the Oktoberfest – Bavarian Week and Puerto de la Cruz en Flor, planned for the second semester of this year.
To this end, the CIT continuously analyses the measures and advances in the health situation, and thinks that we should look for creative alternatives that do not require, for example, concentrating a multitude of people in a single space. We must put collective intelligence and talent into action if we want recovery to take place more quickly in our city.
In this sense, the CIT is aware that this will require a joint effort between the administrations and the private sector, so that in a coordinated manner an efficient management of resources is produced, and measures and actions are developed that are true drivers of the economy and that in turn prepare us for other uncertain scenarios.
Consequently, the Board of Directors of the CIT, demands speed and maximum collaboration from the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz, the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands to start a process that will not be easy.
Entrepreneurs undoubtedly also have a fundamental role to play if we are able to internalize the lessons that this situation is generating in our businesses.
The Centro de Iniciativas y Turismo de Puerto de la Cruz is a non-profit organization created in 1964 whose mission is to develop projects that contribute to the dynamization of the city’s tourist sector. Its activity in the city is very significant with the celebration, among others, of the Agatha Christie Festival, the Santa Lucía Festivity, the toast of the New Year’s Eve bells or the commented Oktoberfest-Bavarian Week and Puerto de la Cruz en Flor.
It is currently made up of more than a hundred members, including companies and professionals who are committed to continuing to promote the image of the city in the context of tourism and at a time when shared management and collective commitment is becoming more important.
